Nubra Valley, Leh Ladakh-The Valley of Flowers
Located at an altitude of 10,000 ft, whole region is nurtured by two exotic rivers - Shyok and Nubra which together separates Ladakh from Karkoram range.
Capital of Nubra Valley is Diskit that houses an impressive Diskit monastery located on a hilltop towering the village. Besides natural beauty, Double Humped camels (Bactrian Camels) act as magnet to attract tourist towards this valley. Found in the village of Hunder, these rare camels are indigenous to central Asia and flower valley. Other famous towns and villages of flower valley are: Panamik, Khardung, Sumur, Khalsar.
In time you will be transferred to the domestic airport by the representative to catch the flight for Leh. On your arrival in Leh you will be greeted by our representatives there. They will assist you till the hotel as the rest of the day will be free for you to get familiar with the high altitude region. Also, you can continue with your personal activities followed by
overnight stay at hotel.
Day, 02
Leh
In the morning, after the hearty breakfast, you will leave for a half day tour to Shanti Stupa, Leh Gompa, Leh Palace and Bazaar. Shanti Stupa is one of the most recent pious monuments of Ladakh. It is beautifully constructed and offers magnificent views at the daybreak. In the night, the Stupa looks spectacular with glittering lights. The colorful bazaar of this unique place will win over your heart. The brilliantly designed Leh palace offers amazing views of Leh.
Post lunch, you will proceed towards the Spituk, Phyang and Shankar Gompas. Situated at a distance of 8km from Leh, Spituk Gompa is the venue to the famous Gustor Festival. Phyang Gompa is popular for its 900 years old museum while the Shankar Gompa (associated with the Spituk Gompa) serves as the residence for the Head lama. After this wonderful excursion you return back to the hotel to rest overnight.
Day, 03
Unforgettable trip to the ancient Gompas
Soon after a fine breakfast, you will head towards a lovely trip to the beautifully built Gompas, namely, Shey, Thiksey and Hemis.
Shey Gompa is famous for the large image of seated Buddha Shalyamuni inside it, considered to be the largest metal statue and the second largest Buddha statue in the region of Ladakh. Thiksey Monastery is a twelve storeyed building with 10 temples and nunnery inside it. Hemis Gompa is the Ladakh’s largest and richest Gompa, situated 48 km away from Leh. It is famous for a huge painting of Buddha which is displayed before the public only once in 11 years.
Day, 04
Trip from Leh to Uleytokpo
The fourth day begins with delicious breakfast and after that you will leave for Uleytokpo. On your way to the destination you will also visit Basgo castle and Likir Gompa. Listed in UNESCO World Endangered Sites, Basgo castle is a middle age structure located 40 km from Leh. Likir monastery is famous for its annual prayer festival. Uleytokpo famous for its apricot orchards is located on the banks of the Indus River. You will also get a chance to visit the Ridzong Monastery which is situated in a hidden valley.
After the lunch the excursion will head towards the Alchi Gompa, which is one of the oldest and finest monasteries in Leh. It is situated at a location of 67 km to the west of Leh. It takes nearly about two hours to see the complete Gompa.
The evening will be kept free for you to do your own leisure activities which will be followed by dinner and an exciting overnight at Uley deluxe camp.
Day, 05
The return trip (Uleytokpo - Lamayuru – Uleytokpo)
Post morning breakfast you will leave for Lamayuru with packed lunch to visit the famous Lamayuru Gompa. It is believed to be the oldest Monastic site situated 127 km to the west of Leh on a high hill top. Lamayuru Monastery has a rich collection of wall paintings and Thangkas. On your way back to Uleytokpo you will get a chance to visit Rizong Monastery which gives shelter to 40 monks and is popularly known as the ‘Paradise for Meditation’. After this you will return to Uleytokpo for dinner and overnight in camp.
Day, 06
Uleytokpo - Leh
On sixth day after early morning breakfast you will drive back to Leh. At Leh, our representatives will take you to the hotel where you can relax for rest of the day.
Day, 07
A Day for Your Leisure
The seventh day is completely free for you. Either you can relax at the hotel or do your own individual activities followed by overnight stay at hotel.
Day, 08
Trip to Nubra Valley
After early breakfast, you will leave for Nubra valley with box lunch. You will reach this beautiful valley after crossing the Khardung-la pass considered to be the world’s highest motorable road. Later in the evening you will visit the popular Samasthanling Monastery at Samur followed by dinner and overnight camp.
Day, 09
Excursion to Tegar, Hunder and Diskit Monasteries
Soon after a cheerful breakfast you will leave for your full day excursion to the famous monasteries, namely, Tegar, Hunder and Diskit with packed lunch. Later in the evening you will return back to the camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Day, 10
Return back to Leh
The tenth day, after an early morning breakfast you will leave for Leh with packed lunch. On your arrival our representatives will take you to the hotel for the overnight.
Day, 11
Visit to Popular Places in Leh
The eleventh day you will visit the famous tourist spots in Leh. After an early morning breakfast, you will leave for the Stok Palace and SOS Tibetan Refuge Camp at Choglamsar. Later in the afternoon you will return back to the hotel.
Day, 12
Catch Flight for Delhi
Early in the morning, after the breakfast our representatives will assist you to the Leh airport from where you will board the flight for Delhi and will say good bye to the beautiful Leh.
